The Boston Bluegrass Union runs a host of educational
activities for participants of all ages. Donations, grants and instrument raffles and auction proceeds help fund
the Joe Val Kid’s Academy, monthly kid’s jams, Boston Front Porch program for
college age players, our
Again this year Martin
Guitars and Eastman Strings donated two fine instruments to help fund our educational programs. We are
auctioning the instruments through a silent auction opening Wednesday February 3rd and running through auction close at 9:05pm Eastern Standard Time on Saturday, March 20. The auction winners will be announced at the beginning of the second half of the BBU’s Blue Highway show at the Museum of our National Heritage in Lexington, MA and also posted to this web page. There is a reserve price for each instrument and the BBU reserves the right not to transact if the reserve price is not met. Festival or concert attendance is not required to bid or
win the auction.
Bidding:
Bidding can be done in person at the Joe Val Festival, in person at the BBU March Blue Highway concert or via binding email bids. Festival attendees can fill out sealed bids at the raffle table at the back of the concert hall until auction close. We will also have an auction table at the Blue Highway Concert. Non-festival/concert attendees can also participate by submitting electronic, binding email bids up till auction close via the following email addresses:

Martin D-28 Guitar

Martins are recognized by bluegrass players worldwide for their distinctive tone and high level of quality. The mainstay guitar for bluegrass musician is the legendary D-28. This special guitar also has an abalone inlay around the 14th fret entitled "Joe Val 2010".
