DESCRIPTION:Bluegrass Tuesdays jams continue at The Smoot Standard and the patio at Naco Taco in Central Square in Cambridge\, but we are shifting the start times forward by a half-hour. Bluegrass Tuesdays regularly scheduled jams will now be meeting on the following schedule: \n6:15 pm – Beg-to-Int Bluegrass Jam (email tony…@gmail.com to join)\n7:30 pm – Kelley’s Intermediate Bluegrass Jam\n7:45 pm – Ed’s Slow-to-Medium Instrumental Jam\n8:00 pm – Wayne’s Intermediate-to-Advanced Bluegrass Jam \nThanks to Chris Parsons (chef/owner of Lily RIP’s)\, our jams now meet every Tuesday at these two restaurants (rain or shine). Naco Taco is owned by the same folks as Smoots and is another sister restaurant of Lily P’s. The Smoot Standard is located at 313 Mass. Ave. in Cambridge\, MA 02139\, while Naco Taco is at 297 Mass. Ave. Smoot’s kitchen will be open until 9 pm\, and drinks will be available late from JamBassador Jack. \nFood and drinks are available at both locations\, but I cannot stress this highly enough: DO NOT carry alcohol between the two restaurants. You can purchase alcoholic drinks at either location\, but you must finish your drinks there – you CANNOT carry them down the sidewalk between the restaurants. DESCRIPTION:The Whately Old Time Jam takes place each month on the third Tuesday from 7pm-9pm-ish\, unless there is a special event preceding the jam such as workshop. We gather in Whately Town Hall Audititorium in Whately\, Massachusetts.\nThis is an Old Time jam\, keeping to tunes and songs in the Old Time repertoire. Speed and tunes will be up to those who attend. We’ll go round the circle so everyone can choose tunes and pace. Old Time chestnuts\, waltzes\, obscure and/or crooked tunes\, tunes that don’t resolve\, tunes with questionable chords\, tunes with weird numbers of A/B/C/D/E parts – all welcome if someone can lead it.

DESCRIPTION:Old-Time Almost Fridays jams will be moving to the Russell Field Playground near Alewife in N. Cambridge. It’s less than a quarter-mile from the end of Route 2\, has ample parking\, and is less than a five-minute walk from the Alewife T Station. The schedule of the jams will remain similar: \n7:30 pm Beg/Int Old-Time Jam\n8:30 pm Int/Adv Old-Time Jam \nWeekly hosts will keep things moving along. \nHere’s what we’ve learned about jamming at the Russell Field Playground: \n(1) There are two parking lots on Rindge Ave. on either side of the little league park (Comeau Field): the lot with the cul-de-sac (to the west of the field) is usually full\, but there’s tons of space in the lot to the east of the ballpark\, which is the lot for the Francis J. McCrehan Swimming Pool at 359 Rindge Ave.\, in Cambridge\, MA 02140 (please note this is not the same location as Russell Field\, which is the football field next-door). \n(2) We often jam near the sprinkler spot (a.k.a. splash pad) near the yellow canopy\, which is between the pool\, the playground\, and the ball field. \n(3) There are working port-a-johns right there\, so everyone can have that true “festival experience”. \n(4) Please bring a folding chair (preferably without arms). \n(5) It’s not as well lit as some people might like\, so if you have a small camping lantern\, you might want to bring one. \n(6) Mosquitos were mostly not an issue\, but you still might want to bring bug spray or wear heavier clothes\, as long as it’s not too hot.

SUMMARY:Bluegrass Tuesdays Jam at The Smoot Standard
DESCRIPTION:Bluegrass Tuesdays jams continue at The Smoot Standard and the patio at Naco Taco in Central Square in Cambridge\, but we are shifting the start times forward by a half-hour. Bluegrass Tuesdays regularly scheduled jams will now be meeting on the following schedule: \n6:15 pm – Beg-to-Int Bluegrass Jam (email tony…@gmail.com to join)\n7:30 pm – Kelley’s Intermediate Bluegrass Jam\n7:45 pm – Ed’s Slow-to-Medium Instrumental Jam\n8:00 pm – Wayne’s Intermediate-to-Advanced Bluegrass Jam \nThanks to Chris Parsons (chef/owner of Lily RIP’s)\, our jams now meet every Tuesday at these two restaurants (rain or shine). Naco Taco is owned by the same folks as Smoots and is another sister restaurant of Lily P’s. The Smoot Standard is located at 313 Mass. Ave. in Cambridge\, MA 02139\, while Naco Taco is at 297 Mass. Ave. Smoot’s kitchen will be open until 9 pm\, and drinks will be available late from JamBassador Jack. \nFood and drinks are available at both locations\, but I cannot stress this highly enough: DO NOT carry alcohol between the two restaurants. You can purchase alcoholic drinks at either location\, but you must finish your drinks there – you CANNOT carry them down the sidewalk between the restaurants. DESCRIPTION:For many years\, the Fiddle Hell Massachusetts Festival has been a yearly gathering of fiddlers\, cellists\, mandolin & guitar & banjo players\, and singers to meet\, jam\, learn\, listen\, and have fun. It’s both friendly and diverse\, and covers many traditional musical styles. This year\, it’s Nov 13-16\, 2025\, in Westford\, MA\, at the Westford Regency Inn & Conference Center. \nAs a registered attendee\, you’ll have an amazing choice of 300 workshops\, 20 concerts\, and 40 artist-led jam sessions. Teaching at Fiddle Hell is primarily by ear although sheet music is sometimes available. There are many informal jam locations in the hallways.

DESCRIPTION:The Concord Bluegrass Band is an intermediate level ensemble\, ideal for folks who are looking to play bluegrass music in an organized band setting. This ensemble experience will hone in on each instrument’s role as a member of a bluegrass band and give folks the opportunity to sing and pick their favorite bluegrass standards. The course will culminate in a short performance. Let’s pick!  \nParticipants should be familiar with several songs tunes in the style\, play their instrument at an intermediate level\, and hold their own in a jam session. If you’re unsure whether this class is a good fit\, please email Student Services Manager Emma Huggard with a description of your background and we’ll help you.  \nThis is open to all voices and acoustic string instruments. In keeping with authenticity\, the ensemble will fit no more than two of any instrument with an overall capacity of 6 members.
