DESCRIPTION:Bluegrass Tuesdays jams continue at The Smoot Standard and the patio at Naco Taco in Central Square in Cambridge\, but we are shifting the start times forward by a half-hour. Bluegrass Tuesdays regularly scheduled jams will now be meeting on the following schedule: \n6:15 pm – Beg-to-Int Bluegrass Jam (email tony…@gmail.com to join)\n7:30 pm – Kelley’s Intermediate Bluegrass Jam\n7:45 pm – Ed’s Slow-to-Medium Instrumental Jam\n8:00 pm – Wayne’s Intermediate-to-Advanced Bluegrass Jam \nThanks to Chris Parsons (chef/owner of Lily RIP’s)\, our jams now meet every Tuesday at these two restaurants (rain or shine). Naco Taco is owned by the same folks as Smoots and is another sister restaurant of Lily P’s. The Smoot Standard is located at 313 Mass. Ave. in Cambridge\, MA 02139\, while Naco Taco is at 297 Mass. Ave. Smoot’s kitchen will be open until 9 pm\, and drinks will be available late from JamBassador Jack. \nFood and drinks are available at both locations\, but I cannot stress this highly enough: DO NOT carry alcohol between the two restaurants. You can purchase alcoholic drinks at either location\, but you must finish your drinks there – you CANNOT carry them down the sidewalk between the restaurants. The songs of John Hartford\, Hank Williams\, Dock Boggs\, and The Band share space with the fiddle tunes of Eck Robertson and Ed Haley. Their original songs and tunes take in all these vistas and paint something both personal and timely. \nConsisting simply of fiddle (John Showman)\, clawhammer banjo (Chris Coole)\, bass (Noah Harrington)\, and voice\, the band moves freely between a sound so commanding it doesn’t seem like it could come from a trio to a sparse fragility that draws the listener in.

DESCRIPTION:AJ LEE & BLUE SUMMIT \nAJ Lee & Blue Summit are an award-winning\, energetic\, charming\, and technically jaw-dropping band — and one of the most exciting and fast-rising Bluegrass / Americana bands on the scene today. Based in the California Bay Area\, the group met as teenagers\, picking and jamming together as kids at local bluegrass festivals. Currently made up of AJ Lee on mandolin\, fiddler Jan Purat\, guitarists Scott Gates and Sullivan Tuttle (younger brother of Molly Tuttle)\, and bassist Sean Newman\, the band still carries that youthful\, festival-parking-lot energy with them\, yet there’s a genuine ease and confidence to their music making. A breakout year for the band\, 2024 saw them release their critically acclaimed album\, “City of Glass\,” their first label release on Signature Sounds recordings\, combined with becoming one of the most in-demand bands in the Bluegrass scene. But their talent as singers\, instrumentalists\, and composers is just the beginning. The secret to East Nash Grass lies in their unflinching ability to be themselves. The course will culminate in a short performance. Let’s pick!  \nParticipants should be familiar with several songs tunes in the style\, play their instrument at an intermediate level\, and hold their own in a jam session.
