Southern Rail's concerts are joyous and engaging with stunning harmonies, irrepressible good humor and sparkling banjo, guitar and mandolin. Their repertoire is fresh and diverse, featuring lots of originals plus a kaleidoscope of covers. Two of the band's founding members (guitarist Jim Muller and bassist Sharon Horovitch) were recently inducted into the RIBA Hall of Fame. Bluegrass Band Scramble at Concord Conservatory of Music on January 25

Is there a budding stage musician inside you? Have you ever dreamed of standing on stage with people you didn’t know two hours before, playing bluegrass in front of tens of enthusiastic fans? (Dreams have to start somewhere.) The Bluegrass Band Scramble may be for you! Reserve your spot with 2 easy steps – Registration links coming soon, stay tuned! Please reserve your spot and pay in advance ($35). Yeah, we know you’ll understand that we have to cover our costs: January 25 Complete the short registration form in advance: January 25 registration form. Tell us your name, contact information, and your instrument so that we can place you in a band. If you’ve ever played in a jam session, or if you can play three chords in rhythm, come out and try your hand. Musicians enter the Scramble individually, and bands are created by picking names out of hats for each instrument, so bands have the tools they need. You and your new bandmates will have a two-hour practice session with CCM instructors’ coaching to prepare songs and stage patter for a three-song turn in front of a live audience and with a professional sound system. The Scramble is purely for experience and enjoyment. There’s no competition, and there are no prizes, just the chance to meet up and perform with other musicians from the area and try your skills in front of an audience. Come out and have fun! Rakish is the acoustic duo of Maura Shawn Scanlin, fiddle, clawhammer banjo and vocals, and Conor Hearn, guitar and vocals. They share an unbridled love for the traditional sounds of Celtic and American music, and have an infectious playfulness on stage. Nate Sabat is a well known bassist, singer and songwriter, and co-founder of the award-winning bluegrass band, Mile Twelve.
