DESCRIPTION:The musical legacy of John Hartford has found a new chapter with The John Hartford Fiddle Tune Project; Mandolinist Sharon Gilchrist\, fiddle player Rachel Baiman\, and banjo/guitarist Ella Korth bring newly discovered Hartford tunes to old-time and bluegrass fans everywhere. These compositions\, found handwritten in 60 notebooks after John’s death\, were compiled in The John Hartford Mammoth Collection of Fiddle Tunes\, and recorded on the GRAMMY-nominated album\, The John Hartford Fiddle Tune Project Vol. 1\, and Vol. 2: Julia Belle. Julia Belle was co-produced by Gilchrist and released in February 2025. The John Hartford Fiddle Tune Project is passionate about sharing these tunes far and wide so that they can become part of the roots music canon for future musicians to love and enjoy.

DESCRIPTION:Old Time Jam hosted by Betsy Green first Tuesday of the month.\n\n\n\nCome be part of The Word Barn’s monthly old-time jam session!\n\n\n\nAll levels and all instruments are welcome.\n\n\n\nBring your banjo\, fiddle\, guitar\, mandolin – or whatever old-time acoustic instrument you have – and spend a few hours playing along with fellow musicians of all skill levels and backgrounds.\n\n\n\nHeld every first Tuesday of the month. On warm evenings\, we’ll circle up in the Meadow around the campfire; on cooler evenings\, we’ll be cozy inside The Word Barn itself.\n\n\n\nDon’t play an instrument? Come on over\, kick back\, and enjoy the tunes!\n\n\n\nFree admission for all – donations accepted. Registration requested (space is limited).\n\n\n\nAfter catching up\, sharing a pint (or two)\, and choosing a key\, the music will begin\, with a last call for tunes coming around 8:45pm.\n\n\n\n\n\n**Please note and watch the calendar – Old-Time Jam session dates are subject to shift from the 1st Tuesday as needed due to holidays and conflicts.\n\n\n\nSpecial thanks to the NH State Council on the Arts. SUMMARY:Blackstone Valley Bluegrass Whitinsville
DESCRIPTION:Blackstone Valley Bluegrass will be playing in Whitinsville MA on 8/6 6-8 PM. The concert is sponsored by ValleyCAST\, and is being held at the Dennis Rice Community Plaza at 50 Douglas Road. Parking is acrosss the street from the plaza. The concert will be held outdoors but may be moved inside the Singh Theatre in the event of foul weather. Chairs are provided. Also\, our program is supported in part by a grant from the Northbridge Cultural Council\, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council\, a state agency. \nBlackstone Valley Bluegrass came to be in 1998 for the town of Northbridge Summer Concert series which eventually morphed into the current concert series run by the fine folks at ValleyCAST\, the arts & culture arm of Open Sky. Together they believe in the power of Community! Concerts are on Thursday evenings throughout July and August. We hope to see you there on August 6!!
