David was a folk singer-songwriter in the Cambridge area in the ‘80s, performing at venues like Club Passim and Johnny D’s. He was known for his evocative lyrics and finger-picking guitar style. Ed took up the banjo more recently and recruited his son Paul, a senior at Newton North High School to take up the upright bass to form the bluegrass trio that now makes up the group.   Birch Hill Ramblers The Birch Hill Ramblers play and sing a repertoire of traditional bluegrass songs and fiddle tunes that have been handed down since the 40s and 50s when Bill Monroe, Earl Scruggs and Lester Flatt established the genre. Joining them as a special guest for the March 5th performance will be Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, a Berklee grad and award winning fiddler, and Jordan Santiago, an accomplished mandolinist.
