This is a “teacher-directed” jam where we never know what songs we’re going to play\, but we’re limited to no instrumentals and no very fast nor very complex songs. \n\n\n\n6:30 pm – Kelley’s Intermediate Bluegrass Jam meets every week and is suitable for those who have some experience jamming already and can play songs and tunes\, recognize chord changes\, and play well with others. \n\n\n\n6:45 pm – Ed’s Fiddle Tunes at 80 BPM Jam now meets in the hallway behind the kitchen\, right by the stairwell to the garage. SUMMARY:An Evening with Matt Michienzie Band
DESCRIPTION:Matt Michienzie originally hails from Foxboro\, MA. Matt currently resides in Los Angeles\, where he plays with his countrified\, bluesified\, and grassified band. His passion as a songwriter is vividly clear: Matt sings from his heart and gives it his all in everything he plays. Whether fronting a bluegrass group\, jam band\, or country band\, Matt is able to combine his influential and eclectic music curiosities in a very tasteful and unique way. \n\n\n\nNot unlike many California grass bands\, MMB is a progressive bluegrass project. The roots of the band are in bluegrass…although they have a keen interest in incorporating other genres into their sound\, such as jam\, soul\, or traditional country. The band currently consists of fiddle\, mandolin\, guitar\, and bass. \n\n\n\nIn December 2022\, the Matt Michienzie Band flew back east to Matt’s neck of the woods to open for Tim Reynolds and TR3 at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River\, MA. The band won 1st Place Band at the Topanga Banjo and Fiddle Contest – one of the longest running contests of it’s type. The band will be making their Grass Valley debut at this years Father’s Day Festival\, hosted by the California Bluegrass Association. They continue to tour both the west and east coast\, with Matt’s hometown theater MRPAC finding its footing as a fan favorite venue full of homecoming vibes.

This is a “teacher-directed” jam where we never know what songs we’re going to play\, but we’re limited to no instrumentals and no very fast nor very complex songs. \n\n\n\n6:30 pm – Kelley’s Intermediate Bluegrass Jam meets every week and is suitable for those who have some experience jamming already and can play songs and tunes\, recognize chord changes\, and play well with others. \n\n\n\n6:45 pm – Ed’s Fiddle Tunes at 80 BPM Jam now meets in the hallway behind the kitchen\, right by the stairwell to the garage. DESCRIPTION:The Whately Old Time Jam takes place each month on the third Tuesday from 7pm-9pm-ish\, unless there is a special event preceding the jam such as workshop. We gather in Whately Town Hall Audititorium in Whately\, Massachusetts.\nThis is an Old Time jam\, keeping to tunes and songs in the Old Time repertoire. Speed and tunes will be up to those who attend. We’ll go round the circle so everyone can choose tunes and pace. Old Time chestnuts\, waltzes\, obscure and/or crooked tunes\, tunes that don’t resolve\, tunes with questionable chords\, tunes with weird numbers of A/B/C/D/E parts – all welcome if someone can lead it.
