Riley Coyote at the Blue Moon Coffeehouse, Rockland, MA, Sat. November 9th

The Blue Moon Coffeehouse Channing Church, 45 Webster St., Rockland, MA

Cat and the Moon Performs a Special “Friday After Thanksgiving” Show at The Blue Moon Coffeehouse

On Friday, November 27th at 7:30 p.m. (the day after Thanksgiving) the Blue Moon Coffeehouse features a special night of music with Cat and the Moon.   If you've heard the well known bluegrass band Twisted Pine, you've heard some of Cat and the Moon. The banjo player, Ricky Mier, and the fiddle player, the Kathleen Parks, are major driving forces in Cat and the Moon.  Cat and the Moon describes themselves as  a dynamic acoustic roots band with strong Celtic/bluegrass influences. They met at Boston's Berklee College of Music where two members are currently continuing their studies. They have quickly become a much sought-after group in Boston's world class Irish music scene, recently taking part in both the 2014 Boston Celtic Music Fest and The Boston Irish Festival and after parties for the St. Pats Celtic Sojourn Concert and The Boston Irish Film Festival. The band's members have won coveted awards such as Berklee's North American Tour Scholarship (a four year full scholarship) and the NH Bass Solo Competition.  Ricky Mier was the winner of the 2014 Fresh Grass Banjo Competition.  Between sets by the band, there will be an open mike.   Tickets are $10 at the door; children 12 and under are free.  The address is Channing Church, 45 Webster St. Rockland, MA. The Four Legged Faithful at The Blue Moon Coffeehouse

Our Saturday, January 9th, at 7:30 p.m. the Blue Moon Coffeehouse in Rockland features The Four Legged Faithful. The Four Legged Faithful is a Massachusetts-based Americana band known for creating beautiful, heart-felt, genuine music using traditional folk/bluegrass instruments. All members sing, creating multiple combinations of 2, 3, and 4-part harmonies, and all of the guys write songs about their thoughts, their families, and the natural world that surrounds them. Their music swings seamlessly between soulful harmonic vocals and fast-paced instrumental breaks. They have made three CDs together: Human Being Feeling, Regret and Resolve, and Devoured in the Dark.   Between sets by the band, there will be an open mike. The Whiskey Boys at The Blue Moon Coffeehouse in Rockland, MA on Saturday, May 7th

On Saturday, May 7th, at 7:30 p.m., The Blue Moon Coffeehouse in Rockland features The Whiskey Boys. The Whiskey Boys are a modern Bluegrass and Americana band. They have sold out such notable venues as the Club Passim in Cambridge and the Firebox in Hartford. They have opened for national acts such as Lori McKenna, Man Man, and four-time Grammy nominated country artist, Trace Adkins. The Whiskey Boys have performed at the Berklee International Folk Festival, the Make Music New York Festival, the New England Americana Festival, the Jamaica Plain Music Festival, the North Branch Bluegrass Festival, the Bluegrass on the Bogs Festival and the Down Home Up Here Bluegrass Festival. In 2010, they were the featured entertainment at the National Governor’s Association annual conference held at Fenway Park and selected as the premiere country act at the Music Mountain Chamber Music Festival where, in 2012, they were joined by Banjo player Pete Kelly, formerly of Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper. On the airwaves, they have been heard on programs such as “Tangled Roots” on WHUS and “In the Tradition” on WCUW, “Droppin Knowledge” on WMBR, and “The Boston Local Music Show” on Unregular Radio in MA. On Saturday, March 11th at 7:30 pm, The Blue Moon Coffeehouse in nearby Rockland features Rob Flax and Friends, fresh from their appearance at the Joe Val Bluegrass Festival. Rob Flax is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator from Evanston, IL with a playful heart and an open mind. Now making his home in Boston, he is becoming known as a border-crossing, genre bending, multi-instrumentalist. His shows combine great instrumentation with some high energy, zany fun.
