Details - Notlob Parlour Concerts presents Noah y Maurizio Noah y Maurizio is a Boston-based band that comes out of the vibrant musical environments of the Berklee College of Music and the Acoustic Music Seminar at the Savannah Music Festival. The individual members of the group are widely recognized as emerging artists in the acoustic music scene, but come from varied musical backgrounds - Traditional and Contemporary, Appalachian and Venezuelan, Brazilian and Jazz influences combine to give Noah y Maurizio a unique sound and broad appeal. Their debut album “Acoustic Travelogue” is set to come out in Spring 2020. "Noah y Maurizio's debut album is an inspiring display of brilliant solo and ensemble playing, as well as beautiful tune writing and arranging. Banjo player, singer, songwriter, percussive-dancer, choreographer and square-dance caller, Evie Ladin has always been surrounded by music – credit to her upbringing as daughter of an international folk dance teacher, and an old-time folk music devotee, she grew up thinking that playing music, dancing, singing with others was what people do. Though entrenched in the traditional cultural arts of Appalachia, her home was in New York City, Baltimore, now Oakland – in cities, not mountains. But tradition bearers came through and played in her living room, with weekends spent at music festivals and house parties. Evie’s performances, recordings and teaching reconnect Appalachian music/dance with other African-Diaspora traditions, and have been heard from A Prairie Home Companion to Lincoln Center, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass to Celtic Connections. Evie tours internationally with Keith Terry and her Evie Ladin Band; and has produced numerous albums and instructional DVDs. Writing clever, engaging songs, for her neo-trad kinetic roots band with Keith Terry & Erik Pearson, in 2019 they released two CDs: the band’s fourth album of adventurous originals, Caught On A Wire, and Riding the Rooster, totally traditional, raging fiddle/banjo duets, quickly followed by a 2020 EP of favorite cover songs Playing Our Hand. Geoff Bartley, notloB Parlour Concerts #208 Fivesparks, 7 Fairbank Street, Harvard MA 01451 Friday, October 7, 7:30pm Geoff Bartley (1948 - ?) is a folk-blues guitar player singer-songwriter and recording artist. His last two CDs, 2009's "Put the Big Stone Down" and 2011's "Mercy for the Dispossessed", were promoted by Kari Estrin Management in Nashville and went to No. 1 on folk radio. In the 1980s, Geoff won four guitars at the National Fingerpicking Champion-ships in Winfield, Kansas. Some of his songs and co-writes have been recorded by other artists in New England, Canada, Ireland, and Nashville, and some are included in the Smithsonian Folkways Recordings of the Fast Folk Musical Magazine collection in Washington, D.C. A new CD called "Particles of Light" will become available in late summer 2014. Since 1994 Geoff has played guitar and sung harmony for folk treasure Tom Paxton. Geoff was also instrumental in bringing the HD-40LSH Tom Paxton Signature Model Martin guitar into production in 2004. In 2007, Geoff's song A Letter from Prison about Nelson Mandela was recorded by the progressive bluegrass band, The Infamous Stringdusters, on their CD "Fork in the Road" on Sugar Hill. Subsequently, that recording was used in the independent 2008 Lionsgate film "The Lucky Ones". Before his main stage appearance at the 2009 Boston Folk Festival, the Boston Area Coffeehouse Association awarded Geoff its Jerry Christen Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award. Rushad Eggleston

Rushad is a mystical realm-hopping jester of infinite glee, whose unprecedented extremely fast bouncy cello style blows minds of all kinds.  A charming entertainer with unbridled passion, his joy is so contagious that many showgoers complain of sore facial muscles afterwards (the name Rushad means “joyful soul”). A whimsically adventurous sense of melody shines through in all shades & styles on any of the many instruments Rushad bejicks “to keep it fresh”.  Sometimes he reads mystical poetry in his own language, speaks in tongues, channels aliens, throat-sings, beat-boxes, or does skits as different characters such as Negative Ralph, Country Bob, The Goblin, or Guru Fafa which he has a right to embody because of his half-indian heritage. Somewhat of an acrobat, Rushad can spin on one leg, hang upside down, do splits, play in plough pose, and catch flying fruits in his mouth while playing fast intricate cello rhythms.  A distinguished flatpicker, his innovation and skill are admired by many guitar luminaries. Although some of his music is avant garde and experimental (he has an amazing deathmetal cat-voice), he is an expert at making personal anthems to those for which he is playing. (Harvard, Mass) notloB Parlour Concerts and its patrons are very fortunate that Californian Suzy Thompson will be joining Jim Kweskin at his “extravaganza” at the Regent Theater in Arlington on February 4 (the show is sold out) and to present workshops at the Berklee School of Music, as she has selected it as one of two presenters for side concerts, notloB on February 7, and a house concert in Roslindale the next day. Luke Bulla Presented by notloB Parlour Concerts at the old Harvard library, 7 Fairbank Street, Harvard MA 01451 Friday, April 19, 2024, 7:30pm   Luke Bulla has been singing and playing music most of his life, touring with and singing in his family band from age four, Luke took up the fiddle at seven. Over the course of the next few years, he won the National Fiddle Contest (in Weiser, Idaho) six times in his respective age categories. His seventh win came in the Grand Champion division at age sixteen, making him the youngest to have earned the title at the time. In the spring of 1999, Luke moved to Nashville to establish himself as a full time musician. He spent his early years in Tennessee playing fiddle in Ricky Skaggs’ band, Kentucky Thunder, which earned him his first Grammy Award. Luke was a member of the John Cowan Band. Luke has also performed and/or recorded with Brandi Carlile, Jim Lauderdale, Darrell Scott, Alison Krauss, Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, Edgar Meyer, Bela Fleck, Bryan Sutton, Kevin Costner & Modern West, Russ Barenberg Trio, Shawn Colvin, Tony Rice, Chris Thile, Peter Rowan, Patty Griffin, Glen Phillips, Rodney Crowell, and Earl Scruggs, to name a few.
