Based in the greater NYC area, Cricket Tell the Weather is a five-piece indie string band featuring bluegrass-inspired original music. Winners of the 2013 FreshGrass Award and the 2011 Podunk Bluegrass Festival Songwriting Competition, Cricket is strongly influenced by American traditional music, and includes rock, pop, and jazz elements, contributing to the growing genre of progressive bluegrass. The quintet’s voice carries a new spirit that explores a century of influences, owing as much to the traditions that inspired bluegrass to the journey that follows.
