Josie Toney is a versatile musician drawing from a deep familial background in traditional music. Hailing from Olympia, Washington, she now lives in Boston, MA. Josie has performed at Festivals around the country, such as Grey Fox, FreshGrass, Old Tone, and 3 Sisters Bluegrass Festival. A sought after private instructor, she has taught at Fiddle Tunes in Port Townsend, WA, Bruce Molsky & Debra Clifford’s Old Time Rollick at Ashokan, and the Passim School of Music in Boston.
The Josie Toney Stringband showcases a variety of early country music, from the Old Time of the Appalachian Mountains to songs from Honky Tonk Heroes like Hank Williams and Kitty Wells.
Josie is a graduate of The Berklee College of Music, where she received the Sam Eisenson Award for Country Music. In September of 2019 she won the FreshGrass fiddle championship.
